A Central Ohio Custom Home Builder.

We’ve all seen too many template websites for home builders. From our perspective, template websites reflect template homes. If your a custom home builder and don’t build “template homes,” you’d definitely want a custom website.

How a Custom Home Builder Website is Constructed.

We think you’re taking a risk working with a web design company that doesn’t have experience in the home building industry. Because we’ve been working with home builders for a long time, we understand what goes into creating an educational, and engaging, website.

LEO Custom Homes was a start-up custom home builder, and didn’t have a lot of homes to show. But that wasn’t an issue for us to create a website that told their story. That’s because we understand buying a home is an emotional experience. Buying many things is an emotional experience, as you can tell, since people buy Mercedes and Teslas, instead of Hondas and KIAs.

An Emotional Approach Tells Their Story.

As with most custom home builders, LEO Custom Homes started with a single home to showcase, but they still needed a website.  So we created a video on the homepage that focused on the emotional side of home buying. We built the video around their tag line: Dream Build. Live. Here are three still images from the homepage video.

Backing up the Dream of a Custom Home.

We don’t just use the emotional approach to custom home builder websites. Fortunately, LEO Custom Homes had a good story to tell about high-performance homes.  That’s all about the quality and sustainability of the materials and techniques used throughout the building process.

Because it can be a bit of an abstract idea, we created this image to reflect the idea behind high-performance homes.

The high-performance homes page describes the four biggest forces that affects comfort, health, and how long a home will last.

We Loved Their Worry-Free Commitment.

They wanted to offer a “Worry-Free Commitment,” so on that page, we crated a little certificate. It was a little thing, but a visual reinforcement of LEO Custom Home’s commitment.

We suggested they actually customize the certificate artwork with the client’s name, and hand it to them at the beginning of the design process.

We also created a Building Process page, that was more visual that traditional process pages.

How We Help with SEO.

When we add content to a page, we make sure we get as many green dots as possible. The Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress gives you a bit a a “cheat sheet” that serves up red, orange and green dots to show how well the SEO is constructed. The screenshot below shows the results for one of the pages we added. To us, it’s a game to get as many green dots as possible. But we;re SEO geeks, so its fun to us.
