Videos can be created using AI Avatars, but you still need humans

Woman on Computer with Robot

We’ve been working with an online service that allows us to create videos using AI Avatars as “Spokespeople” instead of hiring real, live humans. While AI Avatars are getting better all the time, we’re not using the über high-end video creation software for these videos, but the ones we’ve used here seem pretty good.

The main things it takes to work well, are:

  • Writing a good script that isn’t boring, but educational and entertaining
  • Tweaking the script to get them to enunciate their words correctly, and to get some semblance of a conversational flow
  • Finding the right videos to incorporate into the background, and
  • Creating still images to integrate with the video

We use a service called Synthesia, which you can see here , they recommend using it in Google Chrome to make it work.

They have dozens of Avatars, though some look positively weird. So it take time to select the right one(s) that work for what you’re creating. There are AI Avatars you can use for free, though you have a lot more options with a subscription. And a subscription is surprisingly inexpensive, as you can see here.

While we’re working on other videos using Avatars, at the time of writing this blog. we’ve only done one other video for a ourselves (below) talking about Google Ads vs. SEO.

See a video we did for ourselves using humans, not AI Avatars.

We have created lots of video that use humans, and you can see one we’ve done one explaining what goes into good On-Page SEO. The script we wrote tries to inject some interest by using the same actor in multiple roles, as well as adding some minor humor into what could be a dry subject. (Not dry to us, but we’re total geeks when it comes to SEO stuff.)

Watch the video about what goes into good on-page SEO here and see what you think.
