Will using AI-generated content affect your Google rankings?
Since Google has more computing power than 95% of countries in the world, their AI tracking knows when we’re using AI-generated content on websites.
But first, does Google penalize AI-generated video? No, but misleading videos are so much more prevalent now, you shouldn’t assume whatever you see is real without fact checking it. That’s because AI-generated videos are so indecipherable from real videos, the misinformation they spread is hard to measure. And it will only continue to get worse.

According to ChatGPT head Sam Altman, we’ve hit the “Event horizon” in the summer of 2025. When that happened, he says AI have become sentient. This means he believes Chat GPT has developed self-awareness and the ability to have feelings, thoughts, and a sense of its own existence.
He’s probably dreaming, especially since the release of ChatGPT 5 had to be rolled back to ChatGPT 4 because it was so disappointing.
Is AI sentient now?
Many folks, including Jessica McGlothern seem to think ChatGPT is already there. Oddly, the AI-generated response on Google says it’s not.

Does Google really penalize the overuse of AI-generated content?
Google says the don’t actually penalize AI-generated content, just because it happens to be AI-generated. The determining factor, as it applies to all online content, is if it’s well-written, helpful, information to users.

Get a hint of what Google’s algorithms might be seeing.
There are websites like ZeroGPT or Paraphrase that lets you place copy into a field and it will determine how much of that copy is AI-generated content. You should shoot for a 60% or lower score.

Use AI-generated content as a starting point.
Once you use Anthropic or other content generators, start adding your personal touch. Bring in real life experiences that relate to the article. Talk about things you or your company has done to address the situation you’re writing about.
