A website for an apartment community near Dallas, Texas.
After we completed a very cool website for a 55+ community outside Dallas, Texas called The Cottages at Burnett Trail, we heard from a nearby community to do their apartment website.
The website for an apartment community was for Kaufman Development. They built The Flats at Blaire Lake, which are the apartments that are part of a master-planned community. The community has tons of an array of fun stuff in it, like pickleball courts, a gym, a walking trail around two lakes, a business center, coffee shop and community pool.
The website had to be finished before the apartments were.
A builder of apartments always needs to promote the community before the units are ready to be moved into. That way prospective tenants are able to plan ahead so when leases are up, they have a new apartment lined up. And in situations like that, there’s no photos of either the apartments or community. When that happens the only option is to create the website with stock images and update them once the apartments and community are built.
Making the homepage interesting.
Between stock images and animating text, the feel we created for the homepage was fairly enticing. The community was built around two lakes, bicycling and walking trails. Below the main image we built a grid of amenities with rollovers to add some interest.
Helping to recreate the floor plans.
As we neared completion of the website for this apartment community, the floor plans they’d provided weren’t ideal, which meant we had to recreate them to be visually decipherable to their prospects. We did that with thicker lines, as well as adding room names and the main dimensions.
It’s a start.
Creating a website with no images to work with is a start. Kaufman Development has bigger plans for their portion of the community, and when that happens, what started out as a 6-page website, can grow along with the community.
