Keyword Research
Keyword Research
is an overlooked element
in building a web site.
And here's why: if you don't know what phrases your audiences are searching for in Google, you're going to miss putting those search engine optimized words in your web site.
And while it may seem minor, we can tell you from experience, it's not. Any design firm that doesn't do keyword research when building your site should be a real concern.
A one word difference means 38,000 less prospects
We recently did a website for a medical billing services company.
They believed their audience was using the phrase "web based medical billing" to search for their services. Through Keyword Research we found in the previous 30 days, about 1,900 people were searching for those services using "web based medical billing."
But after our Keyword Research, we found over 40,000 people were searching for the services they offered using the phrase "online medical billing" (also in the previous 30 days).
A minor difference in wording, for sure, but a major difference in potential traffic to their website.
By using Google AdWords/Keyword Tool, it shows us the phrases people search on, and how many times a phrase has been searched in the past month. Armed with this knowledge we can focus your keywords for search engine optimization based on what we know people are searching for.
So when you're searching for a Columbus web designer, be sure to ask them if they do keyword research. If not, you'd be searching for the wrong company to help with your website.
