Blog On

Everyone has something to say, but how many have something to share?

We think there's a big difference between the two. And what we have to share is the expertise we've acquired over the years in web design, search engine optimization, graphic design and email marketing.

As with most things, there's no real substitute for experience. And it's that experience we're willing to share. We hope you find our blog entries beneficial for your marketing efforts. If so, let us know and maybe sign up for our marketing-focused e-newsletter.

How many prospects missed finding you today?

February 21, 2012

You might not know how many people search for your services everyday. But you should.

For example, we know that 4,400 people every month search on the phrase "columbus website design." That's a ton of people. And while we don't get ALL 4,400 folks finding our site, we're found enough to get emails and phone calls every week from those who do find us online. And you can imagine how much easier that makes our sales efforts.

Do you know what phrases your prospects are using to search for your services? Do you know how many folks search on those phrases everyday?

It's easy to find out. Any good Columbus web designer who knows anything about search engine optimization can tell you.

And when you learn that critical information, and you find you aren't taking advantage of it on your website, you'd cringe at all the opportunities you miss every day.

Let us help those prospects find you online. It'll make your sales effort SO much more rewarding.

Is it wrong to love a web banner?

January 28, 2012

Sometimes there's some marketing effort that's so good, it stays with you for a long time. Zippo Lighter's web banners are one of those things.

Three of our favorites are not running anymore, but you can see them on a mocked-up website that has no content, but does have the Zippo web banners so creative junkies like us can still see them. Check out those three from a while ago here: Dancer banner, Hairpiece banner and Clothing banner.

You can see one of the newer Zippo web banners here.

As a Columbus web design firm, we appreciate creative work of other firms, and enjoy sharing them with folks through our blog. The Pittsburgh-based agency that developed the Zippo banners, and probably all their marketing is BrunnerWorks.

Should you be looking for Columbus website design firms or Columbus advertising agencies, look at our work and see if it would work for you.

How one small country is using Google to change the world's perception of them.

January 15, 2012

As a Columbus website design firm we help companies show up on Google.

Which is why, traditionally, we think of companies and organizations using the power of search engine optimization to make sure they are found on a Google search.

But what happens when an entire country has an image problem and wants to change how everyone else perceives them? Well, evidently, Romania has that issue and it launched a campaign to change that using the power of Google.

You can see the "Romanians Are Denigrated on the Internet" campaign here.

It's a fascinating case study of how a government is reaching out on a grass roots level to change the way they're seen by the rest of the world. And it seems to have worked. Enough Romanians have Googled the "Romanians are smart" phrase, that now, it's the first phrase Google fills in.

Of course, being a Columbus website design firm we only know one Romanian (shout out to Tom!), and he's pretty cool, so we're gonna assume most Romanians are awesome. The video was developed in Romania, by the Bucharest division of McCann Erickson, the large American ad agency.

Along a similar line, author and activist Dan Savage (Savage Love) created a Google campaign against Rick Santorum. Dan Savage is a gay blogger, and Rick Santorum's infamous line that gay men are on a "slippery slope to having sex with dogs," understandably pissed off Dan Savage. (Along with man other logical people.) So Dan started the campaign that resulted in the first ORGANIC result that appears when you Google "santorum." Just try it yourself and see what comes up.
